P(foom) = 2024!

This is the Year AI Takes Off for Five Key Categories

At Creative AI Academy, we've explored, experimented with and taught others how to use generative AI a lot in 2023. The good news is that our P(doom) — one's personal prediction for the probability of doom from AI — has dropped dramatically.

Plus, our P(foom) — defined by some as the prediction for when AI will skyrocket in its capability — is on the rise. Especially for businesses and leaders. These are exciting, optimistic times we live in. Here are a few things we're looking forward to huge advances in 2024:

1. NEW IDEAS IN MEDICINE

T. Jones + DallE-3

Data-driven breakthroughs are coming, largely fueled by AI's prowess in data crunching and simulations. In December, researchers discovered of a new class of antibiotics aimed at tackling drug-resistant bacteria. AI can sift through vast datasets and simulate countless scenarios at an unprecedented pace. It just needs a prompt. And that prompt comes from brilliant humans who want to explore new ideas. As more scientists begin use AI to ideate, 2024 will herald a new era in medical science.

2. GAMING GOES GENERATIVE

T. Jones + DallE-3

The gaming industry is on the cusp of a revolution, thanks to generative AI. Nividia promises to deliver a world where every non-player character (NPC) you encounter is powered by technology akin to ChatGPT, and 3D generative AI crafts new levels as you progress. The narrative possibilities are endless, with story lines branching into countless directions, making every gaming experience unique, personal and immersive.

3. AI EVERY DAY AT WORK

DallE-3 helped us imagine Clippy in 2024

In 2024, AI integration in workplaces is no longer a novelty but a norm. More people are adding GPT to more tasks, going beyond just writing emails or drafting proposals. Employees and leaders are going to get better at it*, and build their own AI workflows. The logical evolution is an assistant that can work across those. Google Gemini and Microsoft CoPilot will be there to guide us, and they will have our data, our emails, our meeting notes and calendars at hand. In 2024, expect Apple to step into the LLM game. Siri will be amazing.

* It's exactly why we offer a "Leading in the Age of AI" training.

4. AI POWERED TEACHERS & TUTORS

T. Jones + DallE-3

The educational sector is undergoing a paradigm shift. Teachers, once wary of AI as a tool for plagiarism, will embrace it to facilitate enriched homework, idea exploration, and discussions in 2024. We were honored to work with educators at Georgetown University to help their faculty reframe their POV in 2023. As we engage more universities and schools, expect a significant shift from fear to acceptance. The future of education acknowledges AI as a partner in fostering a more engaging and effective learning experience.

5. ARTISTS & CREATORS GET PAID

T. Jones + DallE-3

This year will be better for artists and creators in the AI space. As AI developers (and the courts) initiate massive licensing deals, artists who helped to train these models will get recognition and revenue. Blatant vacuuming of reference images won't last long, and we wonder how Midjourney may deal with this. Bigger players like OpenAI will collaborate with major media houses as reported by The New York Times and The Verge. Its not different than Spotify or Netflix models. Keep an eye on this trend. Soon enough, more creators will rightfully compensated for their contributions to AI model training.

ALL IN ALL, GET READY!

2024 is set to be a landmark year where AI becomes a synonym for opportunity and growth. The advancements we're seeing are just the beginning of a journey towards a more efficient, creative, and empowered world. At Creative AI Academy, we're committed to being at the forefront of this change, offering specialized AI training to companies poised to skyrocket in this new era.
